KIC Got Talent (Virtual Talent Show for Grandfriends)

Help us bring joy during this time of isolation to residents at local nursing homes and assisted living facilities throughout greater Milwaukee through a virtual talent show. We will be putting together a video of KIC kids doing a dance, performing a magic trick, telling a joke (sky’s the limit) to be shown at nursing homes in thre area.

Older adults have a special place in our heart. Kids Impact Community has hosted intergenerational playgroups since the organization’s inception. Our kiddos have learned patience, kindness and how to make new friends of all ages, and our grandfriends benefit tremendously from the interaction with our children.

As you well know, older adults are the population most vulnerable to COVID-19. Nursing homes, assisted living facilities and senior centers have ended visitation and shuttered nearly all of the gathering places for older adults across the country in an effort to protect them from the disease. Though necessary, these efforts can have a devastating effect on a population who already faces an increased risk for loneliness and social isolation.

Purpose: Show our grandfriends that they are not alone, they are loved, and we miss them.

Impact: We hope that all of the children participating will grow in awareness of their capability to spread love and kindness to others when their community needs it most.

Activities: Work as the director and producer for your family! 

1) Help your kids plan what they would like to perform as part of KIC Got Talent. This could be a song, dance, poetry reading, a karate move, a magic trick, a joke, a message of love for our grandfriends, or art they want to share. The sky's the limit. Let their creativity reign. 

2) Record the video on your smartphone or camera. Please be sure to shoot the video as a landscape/horizontal. Short videos are best! Videos should not be more than 2 minutes.

3) Submit the video. (We'll send you the upload link following registration)

When: Videos are due September 30.

Where: Create the video in your own home.

Ages: Any age

Participant Cap: unlimited

Cost: There is no cost to participate.

Cancellations: In the event that circumstances change and you are no longer able to submit a video, no worries. Just give Lizzy a heads up at lizzy@kicmke.org so we don’t try and track you down.
